At LB Design things are abuzz with excitement. The office is flourishing with inspiration as we prepare to embark on one of our highly anticipated projects: helping bring back to life the historical Royal Connaught Hotel in Hamilton.
As we work on this project, not only are we learning about the history and culture of what Hamilton used to be, we are getting to know the city. From its inhabitants and culture, we are learning what this “Steel Town” is all about today.
One example of this is having the opportunity to meet with local artists in the area, in hopes that they too can help us bring in some history and culture to this magnificent old hotel. To this end, we recently met brothers Lester and Norman Coloma, born and raised in Hamilton.
Lester custom hand-paints beautiful murals for various companies and restaurateurs – large and small – across North America. You can also see a beautiful piece of his in the Foreign Affairs Office in Hamilton. Today you can find him working away in his studio on James Street North.
Norman is an artist who works more in digital format, combining photography and bold graphics as part of his statement pieces. His talent and art has also sent him across the globe; from New York City to the United Arab Emirates.
Whether working solo or together, these brothers know how to create impactful pieces that really tell a story and grab you. See here for yourself…
