The layout of the existing kitchen/dining/living room was very compartmentalized and was not a true reflection of how my clients wanted to live and entertain in their space.

The Plan:

The new design was a plan to remove walls which allowed the kitchen to expand
into the dining area and opened up to a large living & dining space. It is said that now more than ever the kitchen is where the heart of the home is. This renovation honoured that thought process….scroll down for before and afters!

A semi-open concept family room is re-vamped into a warm and intimate space just off the kitchen…….

The original paint colour Shaker Beige, HC-45 was reading too “pinky” in my clients space so I chose to wrap all the walls and the crown moulding in Grant Beige HC-83 and painted out the tray ceiling into the rich Mink 2112-10. Painting out the ceiling added a punch of visual interest while still maintaining a neutral interior. Stone veneer and a new fireplace surround was added to the West wall. A semi-flush pendant is hung from the ceiling to make the space feel more intimate and all the furniture tones (golds, chocolates & ivory) were inspired from the gorgeous hand knotted wool rug below.…
